The mystic Bokor Hill Station is a kind of its own, being built in the 1920s and abandoned shortly after, leaving only a few ruins on this 1000m high mountain. At the moment Sokimex is building a 36 holes golf course, a 300 bed room hotel, a casino as well as a hospital, at a total cost of 1 billion Dollar! The Road is finally open again (November 2011) and private cars as well as guided tours can drive all the way up to Bokor Mountain. The entry fee of 5$ has been waived by the 'ownner' HE Sok An (Sokimex, Sokah Hotels, Apsara Authority) and a guided tour starting in Kep is around 30$/person. Kompong Trach with its limestone caves are an adventure and will you cool down form the heat. There is even a swimming cave with cool, clean water inside the cave. If you're more used to taking weekend breaks in England then this activity can offer a delightful alternative from the British countryside. Those who enjoy the beauty of nature cannot fail to appreciate this stunning sight, and should try to make it a priority during their visit. Whilst the area might be famed for its beaches, Kompong Trach offers cooler option for those who enjoy outdoor swimming. Trekking around the Kep National Park (8km) with some great viewpoints and a lot of wildlife will for sure fascinate you. The trek can be accessed via a small path just behind our hotel or via the road to Veranda Resort. The trek has many signs so it can be done easily by yourself. But if you like we can organize you a guide. Or if you like to swim under a waterfall, the Tekchhou rapids near Kampot, with cristal clear mountain water, surrounded by tropical rain forest. Plenty of food stalls will make sure that nobody leaves hungry. Try the garlic and honey chicken. We are happy to assist you in finding the right activity while staying with us. |
